About Me
I am a licensed psychologist in private practice in Rockville, Maryland. I work with children and adolescents who are struggling with anxiety, OCD, and depression to help them find freedom from fear and gain control over their lives again.
All children (and adults, for that matter) experience worries and fears – it’s part of being human. But when these worries and fears begin to take control and keep children from being able to grow, learn and develop to their best abilities, it is time to seek help. Anxiety can show itself in many ways – perhaps your child expresses worries repeatedly, or stops participating in activities they used to enjoy, like sports or playdates. Children and teens with anxiety can become more irritable, withdrawn, tearful, or have angry outbursts. You may notice that your child has become more clingy or afraid to be separated from you or other family members. Perhaps your child no longer wants to go to school. Anxiety can show up in the body - children may complain of headaches, stomach aches, or general pain, but the pediatrician can’t find anything physically wrong. Sometimes anxiety takes a very specific form, such as recurrent, intrusive thoughts that a child cannot get out of their mind or repetitive, meaningless behaviors that interrupt a child’s daily activities.
If you are noticing these or other similar behaviors in your child, I am here to help. My goal is to join with you as your guide and coach to help you, your children, and your family address anxiety, depression and other painful issues. I provide compassionate and empathetic support and use evidence-based approaches to reducing symptoms of anxiety, depression, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), phobias, and other problems.
